Who I am

I am Sam Dobbins and I am the founder, owner and president of the Cold Call King,LLC. I am absolutely committed to helping telemarketing agents learn how to become specialists at outbound solicitation over the telephone. I am referring to teleprospecting and cold calling for sales pipeline development and new business development. I am extremely passionate towards developing new business and generating sales revenue over the telephone. Since graduating from Northern Illinois University in 1987 with a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts, I have spent hours and hours cold calling for myself, employers and clients. In 2004, I established the Cold Call King,LLC and have been offering sales pipeline development and teletraining services.

I attribute some of the Cold Call King philosophies to my dad, Pat Dobbins. My dad was the founder, owner and president of a large independent used car dealership. In eighth grade, my dad appointed me to be the person responsible for " Ups". While my dad and the other sales representatives were busy with potential clients I had been give clear directions. I was to simply meet and greet the potential buyer and strike up a conversation. During the introductory conversation, I was to find out which car they were interested in purchasing and accompany during a test drive. At that time, I grabbed a set of license plates the car keys and two dollars from the cash drawer for gas. During the test drive I was was to find out why they were looking at a car? I was to find out if we knew the potential buyers thru family, school, football, church, etc. I was to find out who was the decision maker and to find out if they had money or would be applying for financing. In short, My dad wanted to know if they were tire kickers or actually had the need for an automobile and the ability to make a purchase. I was to pre-qualify and then hand the keys and information over to my dad to close the deal.

It is at this point that I first learned the value of asking qualifying questions and then listening to the answers to determine the level of interest in purchasing a product or service. It is also at this point that I was part of a pre-sales effort to support a sales team. Since this time, I have become an expert at outbound solicitation over the telephone. Also, a specialist at capturing market intelligence and identifying potential sales opportunities over the telephone. Before I opened the Cold Call King, I racked up close to twenty years of business-to-business sales and marketing experience. During this time, I represented new products for new companies in new territories. I learned the values of an efficient database and a proficient outbound solicitation program. I soon became a major enthusiast of direct marketing, integrated marketing, database marketing, target marketing, teleprospecting, prospect retention and pipeline development.
